Backstage News On Sting’s Match For AEW Revolution
AEW announced a huge match for their next pay per view, Revolution, when they announced Darby Allin would team up with Sting to meet Ricky Starks and Brian Cage of Team Taz in a street fight. It got fans talking, especially considering it’s well known Sting has suffered a career ending neck injury. It’s left many people wondering what AEW has planned for the match to make the best use of Sting as possible.
Sting admitted he was open to the idea of cinematic matches when he and Tony Khan discussed him coming to AEW and a street fight is the perfect kind of match to make that happen.
Now the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that the match will “almost surely” be a cinematic match, giving AEW time to film it and make it the best possible match to work around Sting’s limitations, reducing the risk of anything bad happening to the legend.
“Sting & Darby Allin vs. Ricky Starks & Brian Cage in a street fight is also on the show. That will almost surely be a cinematic match. They have to be careful because Sting will be just shy of 62 and has a bad neck combined with spinal stenosis although in a cinematic match they should be able to protect him.”
Sting’s participation can only help elevate the status of Allin, Cage, and Starks. It also starts helping him finish his career on his terms as opposed to the WWE’s. While a cinematic match may not be what everyone may want to see when it comes to a Sting match, it will still surely draw a lot of eyes and interest when it comes to Sting being able to work in some capacity.
