WWE Will Not Be Giving Their Talent COVID-19 Vaccinations
The world is slowly trying to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, and thankfully one of the biggest steps towards that has happened with the arrival of vaccines to help immunize people against the contagious disease.
Obviously this would be a big help to wrestling promotions everywhere, a chance to help their talent stay safe so they can start working toward getting their business back to normal, but at least one promotion won’t be helping their talent get vaccinated. In a report from Fightful Select, WWE talent have been told through their talent relations app that they won’t be getting the COVID-19 vaccination through the company and the responsibility is on them to get the vaccine.
This surprised several WWE talent, that were expecting this to be set up through WWE, while others that we spoke to figured because of the nature of their status as independent contractors that it would end up this way.
The WWE continues to use the “independent contractor” loophole to do things like this, and several stars were reported to be surprised at this announcement, expecting WWE to help them get set up with vaccination. Others assumed this would be the case.
Considering the amount of COVID truthers in the company, in addition to people who have spoken out against vaccinations like Nia Jax, this is just one of the many ways the company has talent and others frustrated over COVID-19. There’s no notice if the vaccine will be required, but the company will not be assisting anyone in getting them.
