Vince McMahon’s Late Brother Almost Featured On WWE TV Several Years Ago
Earlier today, we were saddened to report Vince McMahon’s brother passed away. Though it seemed like a footnote in the actual report, one would hardly disagree that McMahon missed the show to grieve the loss of his brother.
If you didn’t know Vince had a brother, you would be forgiven as Rod was not a major part of the WWE dynasty. He wasn’t a part of WWE television though he almost featured on television once.
On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez had something to say about McMahon’s older brother, recalling that while Rod McMahon would attend occasional events, he was not a part of the business outside one angle that never started before it was ended quickly.
“He would go to WWE Hall of Fame events and such, but he was never a part of wrestling. The only time he was almost a part of wrestling was the famous angle where Vince got blown up in a limousine which caused former President Trump to call to make sure that Vince was okay.”
“Rod was going to be on the following show because they were going to do a funeral for Vince McMahon. Instead, Chris Benoit killed his family and they scrapped the show. Rod never appeared.”
The infamous angle involving the limo explosion seemed to do more harm than good for most people. It was either going to be the start of a strange angle or a situation that led to Paul London getting buried in the company. The whole scenario did no favors for anyone and it was the week before one of pro wrestling’s most infamous moments to happen outside the ring.
