Tony Khan Says His Father Learned To Trust Him Thanks To AEW
All Elite Wrestling was a gamble and people knew it. Not just creating a new mainstream wrestling program, but to then make it so they would work to chase the kind of audiences WWE would bring in. It was a big gamble from the start and despite the success they have now, nobody knew it would reach such heights to begin with.
One of those people was Tony Khan’s father, Shad. Speaking with Renee Paquette on her Oral Sessions podcast, Tony Khan revealed his father was unsure if AEW would be successful. He also admitted that his father learned his lesson by watching the company succeed.
“He’s a really nice person. He’s very supportive, and he’s a very loving man. He’s also a very hard man. He’s not going to give it to you easy. He’s not going to tell you that you pulled something off or if you did a good job on something. I don’t hear it from him often, but in public, he admitted that he was very wrong about AEW. He went to multiple big publications and said in print that it was a good lesson [for him] in parenting to learn to trust your kids…Hearing him say good job on AEW each week is very nice.”
AEW has really managed to go places, winning the Wednesday Night War in the ratings, and they have continued to outshine WWE in ways like finding unknown talent and providing intriguing matchups. And with them making strong use of Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Shad Khan can see up close and personal just how successful they are as he pays attention to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
