AEW Barely Defeats NXT In Ratings
NXT and AEW promised stacked shows last night, with AEW advertising an 8-man tag featuring Impact Wrestling tag team champions The Good Brothers, along with NXT promising a tag team match featuring champion Finn Balor. Who won last night’s ratings?
Showbuzz Daily has reported that AEW Dynamite had an overnight of 734,000 viewers with a .39 in the 18-49 demographic, with NXT drawing 720,000 viewers and a .21 in the same demo.
While Dynamite barely won the night, it’s a drop from last week where they had 854,000 viewers and NXT saw their own viewership rise from last week’s 659,000. The rise may have been attributed to people turning over after the TNT app experienced a technical issue which caused viewers to miss the opening match of Dynamite and simply never changed back.
The week prior saw AEW win with 762,000 viewers for the second night of New Year’s Smash and NXT had 551,000.
Next week AEW has night one of Beach Break, while NXT has advertised four matches, including a Dusty Rhodes Classic match of Timothy Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa against Adam Cole & Roderick Strong and a Cruiserweight Title match between champion Santos Escobar and challenger Curt Stallion.
