Drew McIntyre On His Change In WWE Character
Drew McIntyre is currently the WWE Champion and has been on a tremendous role since 2020, after he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 for the WWE Championship.
Drew McIntyre’s first run in WWE left much to be desired, as he was still very green. His most notable time during his first run was when he was a member of 3MB. He is also a former Intercontinental Champion and two-time Tag Team Champion.
McIntyre saw a career resurgence after he returned to WWE back in 2017. While speaking to Priyam Marik of the Telegraph India, McIntyre talked about how much his character changed from the first run in WWE.
McIntyre said that his first character lacked something important and that was him not being himself. McIntyre added that he became more relatable as a character and is more sarcastic and silly, which is just how he is in real life.
“I am certainly an evolved version of myself. Physically, it seems I have eaten my previous version because I have grown so much bigger! But previously, character-wise, there was something that wasn’t quite where it needed to be. But I realized that all I needed to do was relax. And that’s what I finally did. And then my real story started to come through, how I have had to keep fighting for my dreams and keep picking myself back up. I became the real Drew, and the real Drew is a bit silly, a bit sarcastic. I became relatable because I was able to be myself.”
Drew McIntyre is scheduled to defend his WWE Championship against Goldberg at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view this Sunday.
