WWE May Have Signed Meiko Satomura
One of the biggest names in Japanese women’s wrestling is heading to the WWE.
According to a report from Yahoo! Sports in Japan, the WWE has signed Meiko Satomura. The former Mae Young Classic contestant will be heading to NXT UK in a “player/coach” capacity. They have added in the report that in addition to being part of NXT UK, she will continue her role as President for the Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling promotion.
This has been a long time in the making. Satomura was rumored to be heading to the brand in October of last year, but there was no official announcement.
Satomura was a competitor in the 2018 Mae Young Classic, in addition to being a guest coach at the PC that year. Satomura teased a potential move to the WWE during a press conference last year, and while WWE has yet to officially confirm or announce her signing, it seems inevitable. If true, Satomura’s signing comes on the heels of them apparently bringing in Pro Wrestling NOAH star Hideki Suzuki.
