Kurt Angle Reveals Brock Lesnar Asked Him For Advice Prior To Facing AJ Styles
Survivor Series 2017 featured one of the WWE’s best matches of the year when AJ Styles went one on one with Brock Lesnar. A dream match for many, Lesnar worked well with Styles to turn in one of his best in-ring performances since becoming a part time star for the WWE. It was a performance many remember not just for how much work Lesnar put in, but how much he was willing to give to make Styles look competitive in the match as well. While Lesnar has been known as being picky about his opponents, Lesnar apparently went to an old rival and confidant to get advice on Styles.
On the first episode of The Kurt Angle Show, Angle’s new podcast, the Olympic Gold Medalist revealed that prior to the big match, Lesnar went to Angle to ask about Styles and see if he was “any good” in the ring. Angle, who has had a long history with Styles dating back to Impact Wrestling, gave insight to his answer on his podcast, revealing that Angle told him not only how good Styles was, but the key to having a great match with him.
“I remember a match between him and AJ Styles a couple of years ago. I told Brock, he said, ‘What about this AJ kid? Is he any good? I said he is really good. I said, ‘If you to sell for him, Brock, you will have a 5-star match’. Brock sold for him and it was incredible.”
Lesnar wound up selling for Styles and the match was well regarded among fans. You can watch the full length match below.
