Last Minute Switch May Have Affected Royal Rumble Gambling
Last night, many people had a good feeling Edge would win the Royal Rumble. People were confident enough that if they weren’t placing straight bets on him, they were picking the number two in number pools for the Royal Rumble.
The reason fans were picking number two for Edge was that WWE revealed on WWE Backstage Saturday night on FS1 that Randy Orton drew number one and Edge drew number two. With that information revealed, fans knew exactly what number to pick on their respective boards. However, many fans were screwed at the last minute when things changed.
At the start of the men’s Royal Rumble match, Edge came out at number one and Orton came out second, officially switching numbers. While it makes Edge’s narrative more heroic and dramatic that he entered at number one and went all the way, it may have caused some casual gamblers or house pools to swing a whole different way. As of now, the WWEonFox Twitter still has the announcement of each of them in the switched positions.
