Reason Behind Last Man Standing Botch At Royal Rumble Revealed
Sunday Night’s Royal Rumble featured a big botch in the heavily advertised Last Man Standing match between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens. The delay in trying to get Reigns out of the handcuffs led to a second referee stopping a count that would have delivered a title win to Kevin Owens was caused by an issue with the cuffs.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed exactly what caused the botch, and it was a simple accident that wound up leading to a bigger situation.
“You know the handcuffs, the key hole was on the wrong side. They didn’t get it in time, whatever, time stood still.”
Eventually, Reigns was released from the handcuffs but by then the botch was well noticed. It didn’t take them long to end the match after that, but by then it was obvious a clear mistake had been made.
