Earlier today, we reported on Austin Theory revealing to the world Johnny Gargano would be missing NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day. Now WWE has confirmed the news and reported Gargano is injured.
While WWE did not announce what kind of injury he has or any length of time he would be out of action, they did confirm an injury and the match between Theory and KUSHIDA on tonight’s episode of NXT.
NXT had been heavily hyping a match between KUSHIDA and Gargano for TakeOver, and now the show is down one major match as NXT announces one more in the hopes it can go head to head with AEW Dynamite which is advertising a huge first time match as they begin their partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling when KENTA teams with Kenny Omega to meet Lance Archer and Jon Moxley in an anything goes tag team match.
NXT meanwhile is counter programming with Theory/KUSHIDA, along with the semi-finals of the Dusty Classic for both men’s and women’s with Legado del Fantasma meeting MSK and Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher against the Grizzled Young Veterans. There is also the other women’s semifinals of Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart against The Way.
