WWE has always found Talking Smack as a great place to enhance character work for the stars of SmackDown, and Cesaro is the next one up to find himself delivering a blistering promo about his place in the WWE.
Cesaro has been on a tear recently, with huge wins that have started to elevate him in the singles ranks. Now Cesaro is heading towards the Elimination Chamber on February 21st, where if he survives the match, he will face Roman Reigns later in the night for a Universal Title opportunity. Knowing these opportunities are so rare, Cesaro was on Talking Smack not only to remind fans how rare they have come for him, but he’s doing it because that’s who he is.
“I can’t remember the last time I had a chance at the Universal Title or at any championship in WWE and I’m still going because I believe that hard work pays off, and I believe because every single person out there that believes in me and has believed in me since I came to the United States, when I came to WWE.” “I worked my way up the hard way. So, to every single person out there who believes what they’re doing is right no matter what everybody else said. No matter what everyone wants to tell them, they feel that they’re right. They’re doing it the right way with the right integrity with the right motives in mind. That matters. Your word matters. Your action matter.”
Cesaro recently re-signed with the company and has been told his new role is to build new stars. However, Cesaro’s last few weeks on SmackDown, including the fact he looks destined to be heading for a one on one showdown with Seth Rollins after their encounter last night, might be ending up with him becoming a new top star on the brand himself. With a shortage of main event stars on the blue brand, Cesaro could slot right in and become one of the show’s top babyfaces behind Kevin Owens and Daniel Bryan.
It’s been some time since Cesaro has held a singles championship in the WWE. He was United States Champion in 2012. Though he’s experienced a great deal of success in the tag team division, this is a chance for him to become a breakout singles star.
