Big Heat On Sammy Guevara From AEW Management AND Impact Wrestling
The partnership with All Elite Wrestling and Impact Wrestling has started to reap some rewards, but there’s already been one issue behind the scenes, and it’s left one AEW star in trouble.
Slam Wrestling was the first to report that Sammy Guevara was supposed to take part in an angle with Impact Wrestling, but Guevara began to complain about the creative direction, causing the whole thing to get pulled.
They went on to report “Impact’s first take on things was rejected but a second idea was given the greenlight by [Tony] Khan.” On the day of the show, Guevara complained and Impact Wrestling wound up contacting Chris Jericho and Tony Khan about Guevara.
Plans were made to shoot the angle the next day but Impact received a message directly from Guevara complaining about the creative direction. Impact in turn contacted Khan and Jericho with this news. Jericho reached out to Impact Executive Vice-President Don Callis about banning Guevara from Impact’s premises.
It was bad enough that when Guevara wound up showing up in Nashville to tape the angle, he received a message from Jericho telling him to go back home. The situation is bad enough “AEW management is apparently concerned that Guevara’s actions may have possibly hurt their relationship with Impact Wrestling.”
The story was confirmed by Fightful Select, who confirmed the incident and the identity of the star being Guevara. So far the partnership still seems in tact, but anything that can damage a relationship that can be tenuous at times is going to leave heat on the person creating issues. Guevara just quit the Inner Circle and was looking to be at the beginning of a singles run that may have taken him even further than during his time with the faction. Now even that might be in danger.
