James Drake and Zack Gibson have been a tag team on the rise through the ranks of the WWE Umbrella. They were the first NXT: UK Tag Team Champions, they’re two time Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finalists and have actually defeated some heavy duty tag teams on both those runs. Gibson and Drake have proven to be strong in-ring workers as well and the WWE knows it.
Fightful Select has reported that Gibson and Drake have really impressed NXT management, revealing it was the reason they’ve made it to the finals of the Dusty Cup twice. Last year was originally scheduled to be a victory for the GYV but plans changed as fans watched Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle gel and get over.
Gibson might be one of the company’s most underrated talkers in the company, and his tandem with Drake has delivered some incredible matches during their tenure in NXT and NXT: UK. Seems like sooner rather than later, they won’t just be soon to be recognized but actually recognized as NXT’s number one tag team.
