More On Sammy Guevara/Impact Situation
Over the weekend, there was a lot of talk about Sammy Guevara getting pulled from an Impact Wrestling appearance to take part in an angle. Eventually, Guevara declined the angle and offered alternatives before he was scrapped altogether and news came out he declined it over the creative direction of the angle.
Now the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has added some more details to the story. They’ve reported Chris Jericho was the one who put together the angle with Don Callis and it was actually Jericho who looked bad at first because Guevara turned down the angle.
They also added that while Impact was upset over the situation at first, things have since calmed down which is a good thing. However, it doesn’t look like Guevara will be invited back.
Impact was really mad about AEW sending talent over, them putting plans in place and then the talent wouldn’t do what was planned. Everything appears to be smoothed over now but there are those in Impact who said that the company was not happy at first with how it went down and could have impacted relationships. Guevara isn’t expected to be coming back here.
So it looks at the moment Guevara will remain off television until AEW brings him back to begin his next program, likely as a babyface against the Inner Circle and MJF. While there’s reportedly no heat with the AEW office for Guevara, there’s a lot of people in the Impact locker room who didn’t exactly blame Guevara either for turning down what they had offered.
