El Desperado And Yoshinobu Kanemaru To Challenge For The IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Championship This Thursday
On this coming Thursday the 24th of February at the final Road To Castle Attack former IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champions El Desperado and Yohsinobu Kanemaru will have another shot to regain the titles they lost to current champions Bullet Club’s El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori.
Phantasmo and Ishimori won the titles from Desperado and Kanemaru at this New Year’s New Years Dash event, before successfully retaining over the Suzuki Gun duo, during the road to New Beginning tour.
Phantasmo and Ishimori were set to face the LIJ pairing of current IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champions Hiromu Takahashi and BUSHI, unfortunately Hiromu Takahashi has suffered a torn pectoral injury that could see the New Japan Star out of action for up to 6 months.
At yesterday’s Road to Castle Attack show, following a match between Ishimori and Phantasmo and LIJ members Shingo Tagaki and BUSHI, in which they managed to pick up the victory, Phantasmo would take to the mic to taunt BUSHI saying they should get Thursday off without any challengers.
However before he could finish what he was saying he was interrupted by the former champions who quickly took out Ishimori and hitting a brain buster on Phantasmo, before declaring themselves available for a match tomorrow.
NJPW would confirm the Tag Team Championship match earlier today on their website, so Thursday the 24th on the final show of the Road To Castle Attack, El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru will face El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori for the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Titles.
