Cesaro has been featured heavily on SmackDown the last few weeks, which has included victories over Daniel Bryan and a heavy feature in the Elimination Chamber. It’s given Cesaro fans hope that his new contract is giving him a heavy push on television and they might not necessarily be wrong.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, they noted WWE has potentially factored Cesaro into the possibilities of contenders to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Title. Fastlane is the last pay per view before WrestleMania and Roman Reigns needs an opponent. While fans want to see it, there’s also internal concern fans might not believe Cesaro could win.
Reigns is facing Edge at Mania, which either means no title match for him until then, or they do something to pay off Reigns vs. Cesaro with the idea Cesaro could win and Edge would face him, although I don’t expect people would take that so seriously.
Cesaro has not exactly been pushed as a credible singles star in recent years, and has really delivered as a tag team star. However, sometimes one good push is all it takes to change perceptions. Look what it did for Kofi Kingston.
