Smackdown Sees Slight Dip But Remains Steady
SmackDown was hot off the Elimination Chamber pay per view and the road to the next pay per view Fastlane. With Edge having declared his decision to face Roman Reigns, how did the ratings do?
Showbuzz Daily has reported Friday Night Smackdown drew the overnight average of 2.051 million viewers with a .5 in the 18-49 demographic. It was a slight dip from last week’s 2.0715 million viewers which was a rise from the year low 1.8835 million viewers from the week prior.
The show has remained steady in both demographic and ratings on Friday nights, in a time slot that’s often considered a graveyard slot for programming. Famous shows have competed in these timeslots, only to watch ratings decline before eventual cancellation. Network executives also believe that the coveted 18-49 demographic aren’t at home to watch television on Friday or Saturday nights, making this slot less appealing for shows and advertisers. For SmackDown to be this consistent proves the power of the WWE.
