Kurt Angle Reveals Why He Never Went To UFC
Kurt Angle has always had a small interest in MMA. Ther former Olympic Gold Medalist once looked into UFC and had passing interest in the group at the time, but it always interested him.
However, Angle eventually found himself away from the WWE and thought about giving UFC a shot one more time. On The Kurt Angle Show, Angle revealed talks he had with Dana White over him coming to UFC and why it never happened.
“I actually approached UFC again in 2006. Dana White offered me a contract, but I asked him if I could do TNA and UFC, and he said, you can’t do it. You have to do one or the other, not both. I had just signed with TNA, and I felt an obligation to continue on with them, and I’m glad I did. There is no way in hell I was going to do UFC. I was lying to myself. My body just wasn’t healthy enough to do it. It wasn’t healthy enough since the Olympics when I broke my neck the first time. So, I made the right move. I made the better move by going into pro wrestling.”
Angle may not have had a career in the UFC, but his time with TNA/Impact Wrestling helped put the company on the map in addition to him having worked with many of the best stars in the company. Angle may have never made the crossover like others, but he still had his own successful career.
