WWE keeps their stars quite restricted when it comes to what they can and can’t do in the ring. Apparently one of the things added to that list is slapping their leg.
Slapping the thigh is often considered a way to give a strike more importance, to make it sound like it has more impact. Now it seems WWE will be fining talent for using that practice. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported on a story going around that WWE has started fining talents for slapping their legs. It might be worth something paying attention to in the future.
There was a story going around that WWE was fining wrestlers for “thigh slapping” when throwing kicks for sound effects, a practice that has been in wrestling as far back as I can remember.
It was said that a memo went around NXT about this, but “nobody has said a word about it since.” We’ll have to see if something comes of this.
