WWE Has Signs Backstage At ThunderDome Warning Against Leg Slapping
Yesterday, it was reported WWE introduced a new mandate that forbid talent from using leg slaps in matches. The practice, normally used to add extra emphasis to the sound of strikes, has rumored to have fines now being issued for people caught doing it. While it was said to be sent down in a memo in NXT, now it seems it has made its way to the main roster.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported there is a sign backstage at the ThunderDome to give stars a warning about the new rule from Vince McMahon.
“Tonight, just as an example, right outside of the Gorilla Position tonight and on RAW as well there’s a little sign that says: ‘do not slap leg when kicking.’ So that’s the instructions for the main roster. I don’t know if they’re gonna fine people, but they absolutely have a warning.”
This will certainly change the dynamic involving a lot of offense and people, so it should be interesting to see what happens next. Nobody knows what caused this change in practice and protocol, but it seems like WWE is looking to prevent their stars from making use of this.
