WWE Announces Inductees For Legacy Wing Of Hall Of Fame For 2020 And 2021

Always lost in whoever WWE puts in the main branch of their Hall of Fame are the people inducted into the Legacy wing of it. Tonight, we now find the names of the 10 individuals who have been inducted as part of the 2020 and 2021 Hall of Fame class.

The 2020 inductees into the Legacy wing are:

  • “Crippler” Ray Stevens
  • Brickhouse Brown
  • “Dr. Death” Steve Williams
  • Baron Michele Leone
  • Gary Hart

Stevens was a big name in the territory days, including having a tag team with the late Pat Patterson. Gary Hart was also a well known manager for World Class Championship Wrestling but also became a force as a manager for the Jim Crockett Promotions as manager for stars like Terry Funk and The Great Muta. Hart was also responsible for booking the famous Von Erichs/Freebirds rivalry of the promotion. Steve Williams may be the biggest star of this group, as a former NWA star. Williams wound up going for a decade unpinned in the ring, but found bigger success in Japan as part of The Miracle Violence Connection with Terry Gordy. The duo returned to America in 1992 and became WCW Tag Team Champions, defeating the legendary Steiner Brothers.

Meanwhile, the 2021 inductees are as follows:

  • Ethel Johnson
  • Paul Boesch
  • Buzz Sawyer
  • Pez Whatley
  • Dick the Bruiser

Boesch was the promoter in the Houston area, a territory that Bruce Prichard got his start in the business at. Buzz Sawyer was a star in the Mid-South/Florida area, and faced off against Tommy Rich in a match known as the “Last Battle of Atlanta” which Shawn Michaels credits as the precursor and inspiration for what we now know as Hell In a Cell. Whatley was also a star from the Crocket Promotions group, and Dick the Bruiser was a major star in the midwest. He wound up being one half of a legendary tag team with The Crusher in Verne Gagne’s AWA promotion.

Congratulations to these names.
