For Seth Rollins, you can respect the art while admitting the artist isn’t a great person.
Rollins was a recent guest on The Complex Sports Podcast, and he was asked about his Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling. One of the names he mentioned was Hulk Hogan, but also mentioned Shawn Michaels was his all time favorite wrestler.
Rollins went into detail over why he chose Hogan over Michaels, where Rollins talked about how while Hogan contributed a great deal to professional wrestling, Rollins didn’t view him as a particularly great human being.
“Shawn’s my favorite wrestler of all time, but we’re talking about contributions to WWE and what they’ve meant to the business, and look, if it were up to me, in that situation, I would scratch Hogan off that sucker probably. But again, if we’re just talking not the kind of human being you are but we’re talking about your contributions as a wrestler to the company, okay, Hogan was responsible for everything that happened after the late ’80s.”
“Look, Hulk’s always been really nice to me, but that doesn’t make him a great human being.”
Hogan’s reputation has never truly recovered since leaked audio of him making racist comments, and even with him being host for WrestleMania this year many people have shouted back at the idea, saying WrestleMania didn’t need Hulk Hogan.
