The Young Bucks Talk About Their Expectations On Ratings Now That NXT Has Moved
With NXT’s move to Tuesday nights, the Wednesday Night War is officially over. Both shows now occupy their own night, leaving more eyes to watch both shows. Many people believe the audiences of those shows will migrate to the other and those numbers will increase significantly for both NXT and Dynamite. If you ask the Young Bucks, that’s probably not likely.
The duo spoke with TSN and they spoke about how while many fans believe the two shows will just add the hundred of thousands of viewers from the other show, they have a bit more of a realistic outlook on what the ratings may actually turn out to be when it’s all said and done.
“We have experts that look at the stats and all the minute-by-minutes, when we go to commercial, when they go to commercial, [et cetera],” Nick Jackson said. “Some people who don’t look at that, they probably expect us to do whatever the combined audience was on Wednesday nights, which is like 1.4 [million] or something like that. But that’s just not going to happen. We all know that. We’re all prepared that’s not going to be the case. But hey, is that a goal? Yeah, that would be great to get all the eyeballs possible to watch us on Wednesdays. But we have a number that we think we’ll hit and if we do, the math we did – that the experts came up with – was right and I won’t go into detail what the number is right now. We’re thinking we’ll hit that and if we do, we’re right. And I’ll just say that it feels good to have our own night now.”
NXT was able to capitalize on the move already and saw a rise in viewership even after a big rise from the first night of TakeOver: Stand and Deliver. Dynamite called on Mike Tyson and a big TNT Title main event for tonight’s Dynamite in addition to a dream AEW Tag Team Title match. We’ll see how they handled having Wednesday to themselves.
