Fans of Impact Wrestling were surprised when last night on IMPACT, they announced that Mauro Ranallo would be making an appearance at their Rebellion pay per view to call the main event between Rich Swann and Kenny Omega in a title vs. title match. Ranallo won’t be calling the entire pay per view, he will only be calling the main event.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has also given more details on the deal, revealing that the deal came after Frank Shamrock made an agreement with Anthem Sports. Ranallo will commentate the main event only, but is going to do voice over work for two video packages.
The idea is to make it special by having Ranallo only call the main event. Anthem made a deal with Frank Shamrock and Ranallo signed on 4/14 to do the match, voice over two video packages to build the match and host a documentary “This is Rebellion” that will be out next week.
Ranallo hasn’t done much work with pro wrestling since leaving the WWE, but Impact knows the kind of announcer he is and seems ready to use him to make this a very special occasion.
