WWE Planning To Have Live Fans In Attendance For SummerSlam

Despite having live fans for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic at WrestleMania, WWE went right back to the ThunderDome for Raw following the show. With no live events in place, there didn’t seem to be an idea when WWE would be bringing live fans back, but now we may have a clearer picture of when that would be.

It helps that the pandemic has slowed down with more people following social distancing guidelines, in addition to vaccines being administered. WWE President Nick Khan even said the company will start touring again as soon as they can. Now Sports Illustrated has reported WWE has plans to hold SummerSlam in front of live fans this year. This is on the heels of the success of having live fans at WrestleMania 37.

Following the success of last weekend’s WrestleMania, which was held in front of a live crowd at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, WWE returned to its ThunderDome on Monday, performing in front of a virtual crowd. Sources within WWE confirmed to Sports Illustrated that the plan is to hold SummerSlam in front of a live crowd.

Like AEW planning for some shows outside Daily’s Place in August, it’s seemingly clear the summer is when WWE is setting its sights on some plans for normalcy. Even Backlash and Money In the Bank have plans for the ThunderDome. Now it seems fans will get their next chance to see their favorite WWE stars live this summer when SummerSlam rolls around.
