Jim Cornette Thinks Samoa Joe Is Cursed Not To Have Reached Superstardom By Now
Of all the releases made this past week with the WWE, one of the biggest head scratchers was Samoa Joe. Many fans were left wondering how Joe never reached true main event status in the company, considering just how talented and how popular he has been his entire career. One person who seems as dumbfounded as the rest of us is Jim Cornette.
Speaking on his Jim Cornette’s Experience podcast, he talked about Joe getting released, not just wondering why of all their announcers they fired Joe first, but went on to say he felt Joe was cursed because he feels Joe should have been a huge star by now.
“That guy has had a gypsy curse on him for almost twenty years. Because he should have been — 15 years ago — he should have been one of the biggest stars in the business. It’s just been where he’s been and how they’ve used him since he’s been there. What was the line, and this was ten years ago, he said, ‘I tripped on some bad booking.’ That was from TNA.”
“They f*cked him up from scratch and I’ll never understand how this is a foolproof talent and how and part of it was TNA being a vastly secondary product at the time and contribute that to creative and we all know who that was.”
Cornette placed a lot of blame on Vince Russo and Dixie Carter for wasting a lot of Joe’s prime athletic years. While Joe is a little less than 90 days away from being able to find a new destination to break any supposed curse, fans will be itching to see if Joe eventually becomes the star in pro wrestling Jim Cornette sees him as.
