Sami Zayn Says WWE Rejected His Request To Wrestle Sean Waltman
A lot of WWE stars pitch ideas to creative in the hopes they get to happen. Sometimes things pan out, but sometimes they don’t. For Sami Zayn, an idea that went unfulfilled would have seen him step into the ring with a two-time WWE Hall of Famer.
A user on Twitter reminded people of the ten year anniversary of a Chikara King of Trios event where Zayn (under his “alleged” alter ego El Generico) faced Waltman at the event. Many people look back on that particular match fondly, and Zayn responded to the user, revealing he requested to work with Waltman two years ago at SummerSlam, but it didn’t pan out.
Zayn is one of the company’s best in-ring workers and may be one of the best overall. Waltman has displayed in recent years at independent shows he can still work at a high level, so one could believe the match would have been worth watching. Who knows now though? Maybe Waltman might be the next to tell Sami his conspiracy theory is just in his head.
