Batista Says He Has No Plans To Ever Wrestle Again
A lot of talk has been made about WWE stars ending their careers on their terms. It was a major factor in both the return of Edge and Christian. One person who’s pretty content with how his career ended, however, is Batista.
Batista announced his retirement following his match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35 and made it clear he doesn’t have any plans to come out of retirement now. The movie star spoke at Justice Con and while the host of his panel joked we’d see him dishing out Batista Bombs, The Guardians of the Galaxy star shot that down quickly.
“Don’t put that out there, people will jump all over that [laughs]. ‘He’s coming out of retirement!’ No, I’m not. It’s so hard to convince people that I’m actually retired. You have no idea how tough that discussion is. When a professional wrestler retires, they don’t really retire, they kind of retire. If the paycheck or event is big enough, they’ll come out of retirement. It’s just not that way with me. I exited the business in such a storybook way, I could never go back. I’m just done. I got to finish on my own terms and nothing is going to bring me back and take away from that.”
Batista managed to finish out his career working with Ric Flair and Triple H, two people he considers close friends. If that’s not a great way to end your career, working with people you love, there might be no greater way. We may never see him in the wrestling ring again, but there’s always the silver screen. It seems like the next time we see him near the WWE might just be when he finally gets his Hall of Fame induction.
