Scott D’Amore Discusses Recent WWE Releases
Last year, Impact Wrestling made a point to sell fans on Slammiversary over the idea that several released talents from the WWE would find their way to the WWE. This year, a year to the date of those cuts, more were made and included former Impact stars like Chelsea Green, Mickie James, and even a pillar of early TNA in Samoa Joe.
Scott D’Amore talked about these releases on David Penzer’s Sitting Ringside podcast and he was asked if there’s a chance these stars could find themselves at Slammiversary again this year.
“I’m kind of curious by the fact that people seem to be shocked that this happened. Historically, this is exactly what happens. They get through WrestleMania and then they make some adjustments to their talent roster. My phone started lighting up and there is definitely some talent I could see gracing an IMPACT Wrestling ring. It’s always unfortunate when any talent gets let go, it’s part of any business. Like so many people last year, it’s a great opportunity to take this setback and turn it into something cool and something that can propel them forward. It’ll be an interesting time over these next 90 days and we’ll see where everyone lands in July.”
The 90-day no compete clause for the talent expires July 14th, and no set date has been given for Slammiversary. While it’s possible we may see the return of some of these top stars, only time will tell what happens next.
