Xavier Woods Talks About When He Feels He May Retire

Xavier Woods wears a lot of hats these days. Whether he’s a pro wrestler, hosting his UpUpDwnDwn YouTube channel, or the fact he’s about to become a host for the revival of the G4 network, Woods is busy everywhere. Of course, this begs the question whether or not he will continue to wrestle.

Woods spoke with Sportscasting, where he talked about how long he planned on continuing to wrestle, especially with all these projects. He feels good about being able to continue as long as he feels physically capable of doing so, and at 34, he seems to be feeling pretty solid.

“Until I feel like I can no longer perform at a level that’s acceptable to the fans. So once that happens, then I’m done. So I’ll probably jump out right before that happens so I don’t have to accidentally find it. But at this point in my career, I’m so focused on making sure that other people are taken care of and that other people are getting the chance to shine, whether that’s in the ring or outside of it. For me, I want to make sure that I’ve done everything in my power to get a couple of pages of the next chapter written before I get there because I don’t want to have to pick up the pen and scramble to write. I want to make sure that I’ve got everything I can to make sure that my transition into post-wrestling life as smooth as possible and that the transition into wrestling life for everybody in wrestling right now is as smooth as possible. So that’s really the focus I have right now. So when we talk about my career, when I’m done wrestling, it’s kind of just like when the work is done, you know, it’s never really done. So I guess when I’m comfortable enough passing the work on to someone else. I’ll step away then.”

Woods is continuing to work with all his projects and maintain his WWE schedule, as he and Kofi Kingston will no doubt continue to pursue the RAW Tag Team Titles they recently lost to AJ Styles and Omos. Not to mention Woods may have an extra spring in his step after missing a year with a torn Achilles. He returned back in October of last year where he and Kingston picked up right where they left off.
