Tony Khan Reveals WarnerMedia Wanted New Hour Of AEW Programming To Be Third Hour Of Dynamite
It was announced yesterday that AEW Dynamite will be moving from TNT to the TBS network beginning in January of 2022. It was also announced that a new hour long program will be debuting on TNT, AEW’s Rampage which will air on Friday night at 10 PM starting August 13th.
AEW also announced that there will be four annual television specials that will air on TNT, which will culminate with Dynamites move to TNT.
Tony Khan was a guest on Sirius XM’s Busted Open Radio yesterday, where he talked about AEW Dynamite moving from TNT to TBS, and their new show which will debut on TNT later this year, Rampage. During the interview Khan revealed that at one point WarnerMedia had asked if he wanted to use the new hour of programming as a third hour for Dynamite, instead of being a stand alone show.
“It’s great for everybody here, it’s big news. We knew that another show was coming this year. I’ve been saying it for a long time that we were going to add another night, one hour. I didn’t want to do three hours of Dynamite. They (WarnerMedia) asked at one point if I wanted to do three hours of Dynamite. It came up about doing a third hour and I said I really believed in doing it on another night.”
It was also reported yesterday that AEW’s upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view will be leaving Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, and going on the road to St. Louis, Missouri. The report added that AEW will also be recording a live episode of Rampage the night before.
