Booker T Talks About Daniel Bryan’s Signing With AEW

We exclusively reported yesterday that Daniel Bryan is “locked in” and has already signed a deal with AEW.

Additionally we reported that Bryan had asked for less dates and comparable money, to be able to work in Japan, and for creative input, all of which he was given. I also noted that the tentative plan was for Bryan to debut at AEW’s huge Arthur Ashe episode of Dynamite in New York City, as of yesterday afternoon prior to Night 2 of Fyter Fest.

On today’s episode of Booker T’s Hall of Fame radio show, they addressed the report of Daniel Bryan signing with AEW. Booker T goes on to explain that a lot of things have changed in pro wrestling. He noted that people today do not wish to spend 20 years working for WWE. He went on to say that at this point, Daniel Bryan can “write his own ticket.”

“It’s not like it used to be back in the day where guys wanted to have a 20 year career in WWE,” Booker mentioned. “It was different back then, it’s a totally different time now with these young guys and the way they see this business. It’s their world and I can’t sit here and hate what Daniel Bryan is doing.

“One thing about Daniel Bryan and AEW, he’s going to be able to pretty much write his own ticket, go out and have the matches that he wants to have. Go ahead and create the stories that he wants to create. I always wanted to be able to create and do my own thing as well, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to do that in WWE, that’s why I got Reality of Wrestling. I said I’ll create my own stories, I’ll create my own angles. That’s what guys want to do, they want to be able to do their own thing and AEW has given a lot of these guys a chance to do their own thing.”
