Vince McMahon Doesn’t See AEW Nowhere Near Close To the Same Competition WCW Was
Over the last year, AEW has been riding a wave of success, and if rumors are true there success will continue to grow with the addition of Cm Punk and Daniel Bryan. Being former WWE superstars one has to wonder what stance WWE has on their competition?
According to the chairmen of the WWE, he does not at all view them as competition.
During the 2nd quarter, 2021 earnings call when a question was asked to the chairmen in regards to AEW and how he views them as a competitor. The question was presented by remarking about how AEW has made significant investments in its roster. Safe to say Mr.McMahon didn’t hold back.
“It’s certainly not going to be a situation[like with WCW] where it’s the rising tide because that was when Ted Turner was coming after us with all of Time warner’s assets as well. That was a different situation. AEW is where they are. I don’t know what their plans are. I don’t consider them a competition like I would WCW back in the day, nowhere near close to that.”
When asked more into investments Mr.McMahon continued
“I’m not sure where their investments are. When it comes to their talent, perhaps we could give them some more.”
Shortly after Vince’s call broke up a bit and president Nick Khan took over and had a few things to add to the AEW conversation.
Nick khan stated “we are looking at AEW sorta like a horserace, where the horse has blinders on. We dont look at any specific orginization as competition when Everything is WWE’s competiton even sleep.
Tell us how ya really feel Vince.
