on last week’s episode of AEW,s Fight For The Fallen we saw a knockdown drag-out, and bloody match between Chris Jericho the Painmaker, and deathmatch legend Nick Gage. Many were very receptive to the match, but there were also those fans and critics who thought otherwise of it.
One of those who were critical of the match and had a few opinions to express was none other than legend Jim cornett. Cornett is known for having very strong opinions towards the wrestlers and the all-around business of wrestling in the present time. While on a recent episode of his podcast, Cornett talked about Jericho and Gage’s deathmatch and trashed the match, stating he felt embarrassed for the pro wrestling business.
“And for the main event of the evening, AEW managed to blow something even better than Marilyn Chambers ever did because they managed to blow one of their sponsorships. We’ll talk about that in a minute, but for the garbage wrestling championship of the universe I guess, the Painmaker Chris Jericho faced the addicted drug robber on national television and, I had alternating emotions as I felt sad for Chris, I was embarrassed for the wrestling business. I even at some points felt bad for some of the people in their locker room, even though they brought this on themselves AEW, Some of the guys back there had to be going ‘oh, come on. What the f**k?’ It’s just, it’s embarrassing. the guy that tried to get in the ring the other week on live TV looked like more of a threat to Jericho than this guy.”
