Networks Said To Be Thrilled With Return Of John Cena And Goldberg To WWE TV
SummerSlam takes place later this month from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada and WWE has brought back a couple huge stars to help make the upcoming PPV one of the biggest of the year.
John Cena made his return to WWE programming at Money In The Bank last month, and will be challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. But Cena isn’t the only part-timer receiving a title match at SummerSlam, as Bobby Lashley will defend the WWE Championship against Goldberg.
Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast recently talked about how he has heard some frustration and fear from the networks after WWE recently released Bray Wyatt, whom they viewed as a top star in the company.
Zarian also commented on how the networks feel about the return on Cena and Goldberg to WWE television. He stated that both networks are “thrilled with Goldberg and Cena, but that this isn’t long term rebuilding of their TV. He added that post covid is all about building your product back up again.
