Trios or Tag Team Women’s Championships for AEW?
The AEW roster has been adding names this last year for all their divisions and it keeps getting bigger. AEW is at the time where adding a few more titles to the promotion would not be a bad idea. Two options are the ones fans have been clamoring for quite some time now.
The most popular option for most fans of the promotion is the heavily rumored trios titles. AEW has a great foundation for a trios division since it’s inception. The roster is so deep that adding a trios titles would be a great option. Trios matches have always been part of the records of AEW wrestlers, so in terms of logic, they make a lot of sense. AEW was supposedly going to introduce them last year on Jericho’s cruise but it was postponed due to COVID-19.
AEW has a deep trios division, with teams like: The Elite, Death Triangle, Any formation of the Pinnacle, Team Taz, and more. This could be the best trios divisions of all time. AEW also has a great track record of consistently good trios matches since the inception of the promotion.
Another popular title AEW fans have asked for a long time are tag team women’s championships. The idea of them being a reality started to take shape last year when AEW booked the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament. Some interesting tag teams were formed in that tournament like TayJay (Tay Conti & Anna Jay).
Unlike the trios titles, AEW has really made a build towards the title and they would feel out of nowhere right now. AEW’s roster is good enough to build a tag team division, but tag teams would need to be established first.
At the end of the day, trios championships are most likely to be introduced first giving the fact they have been establishing a division and records for it since day one, but the AEW women’s tag team titles will most likely be introduce one day in the future, especially giving how much the division has improved.
