With all the stories being reported of all the expiring contracts within the WWE, many have questioned how the company has let this happen. These past few months alone we have learned about contracts that were overlooked including Adam Cole who eventually signed with AEW after his contract expired with the company. Pete Dunne was in a similar situation as cole’s but ended up resigning with WWE after long contract negotiations.
Now stories have come out about Johnny Gargano and a few other stars whose contracts are soon coming up to the end. Well, it seems like there may be a reason for all the contracts running up .
Fightful is reporting that several of the top NXT talents were offered deals to re-sign in the Fall of 2019 but they declined because the amount being offered was “nowhere near” what the Raw and SmackDown talent were being offered at the time.
The report also stated that Adam Cole was another person who passed on what was offered to him in 2019 and there are other names on the card that weren’t being used on TV but still passed on new contract offers.
While this is the case it seems like the company is not doing enough to make talent want to stay. We will have to see how things play out as we are in the midst of a new era of NXT.
