WWE Wanted To Change Adam Cole’s Name On Main Roster
Adam Cole debuted in AEW during the companies All Out pay per view. It was a reunion for the ages as Cole joined The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega to reform the Super Kliq. This all came about as it was reported that the WWE lost track of many stars’ contract situations including Coles. Adam Cole stated he had many conversations with Vince McMahon and now he is spilling more details about his last days in the company.
While speaking to Talk Is Jericho, Adam Cole opened up about WWE wanting to change his name and gimmick on the main roster. He said that it scared him a little because he didn’t want to lose a name he spent nearly 15 years building. In the end, that 30-minute discussion with Vince McMahon didn’t convince him to sign on the dotted line.
“Apparently, there were a lot of ideas, but they were very vague on what exactly they wanted to do. When I first had the conversation, they had mentioned something about doing a name change or changing my look. That scared me a little bit because I spent nearly 14 years as Adam Cole. Our latest conversation, they were definitely more open to being me and being myself. They could tell I was not too thrilled (about a name change).”
Adam Cole is Now in the place that is best for him. It would have been really weird for Adam Cole to have any name other than his.
