Reason For WWE Not Running Any PPV Events In December

It was reported earlier today that WWE would not be running any shows in December and now we are receiving more clarity and reasoning for this.

Fightful Select confirmed that there was no PPV on the schedule for December. The original plan was for a PPV to take place on December 19. That show was changed to WWE TLC on December 12. A WWE source has stated that the planned December 12 show is no longer taking place.

When we asked the reason why, sources indicated that the reason could be the proximity to the January 1 WWE PPV, which was a show spearheaded by Nick Khan. We’re told the plan to have no December PPV was made well over a month ago and internal calendars had been updated accordingly.

Sources stated the reason for the cancellation may be the proximity of the show to a WWE PPV scheduled for January 1. WWE President Nick Khan is said to be spearheading the show on New Year’s Day.

The decision to scrap the December show was made over a month ago. All public-facing WWE schedules and calendars have also removed the December date for the TLC pay-per-view. WWE is returning to Saudi Arabia for the continuation of their Crown Jewel PPV on October 21.

Survivor Series is scheduled for November 21. After that, no PPVs are on the docket until January 1.

The only other major event on the WWE calendar between now and then is NXT Halloween Havoc, which airs on the USA Network on October 26. It doesn’t appear that there are plans to change anything else at this time.
