AEW Recieve Backlash After Announcing A Partnership With Susan G Komen
AEW recently tweeted from their official merchandise account that they would be raising money for breast cancer awareness with new special t-shirts and sweatshirts and normally it would be a good thing but not in this case.
Fans flooded the @shopAEW Twitter replies after the post was made shortly before 11:30 this morning. They were universally negative. Fans also posted screenshots of a 2015 CM Punk tweet in which the Best In The World called Komen a scam.
“If you’re going to give money to a company that claims to raise money for finding a cure for cancer, please do some research.Komen is a scam.”
When the tweet was posted CM Punk was retired from professional wrestling. It was one of the few references he made to wrestling at all during the time. Now, fans are reminding AEW of Punk’s previous criticisms of Komen.
After seeing the fan backlash, Punk posted a cryptic tweet of his own. The post contained a GIF that was captioned, ‘We’re working on it.’ Replies for the tweet were disabled. AEW has reportedly deleted its post about the new line of merchandise after the backlash.
