Motion Filed To Dismiss Alberto Del Rio’s Lawsuit Against Combate Americas

Back in July it was reported that Jose Alberto Rodriguez, known as Alberto Del Rio and Alberto El Patron filed a lawsuit against the Combate Americas MMA promotion for breach of contract as well as unjust enrichment, and conversion for not turning over his social media accounts.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson recently offered an update on the situation. Alberto alleges that Combate Global, LLC owes him $250,000 for an MMA bout against Tito Ortiz for the promotion.

“The Agreement stated that compensation for Plaintiff Jose Alberto Rodriguez Chucuan, Inc. was for two-hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000.00) for the first year, to be paid monthly ($20,833.34 per month). If Mr. Rodriguez appeared as an on-camera, ringside commentator for televised or pay-per-view events, then Plaintiff Jose Alberto Rodriguez Chucuan, Inc. received another ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) per event.”

Del Rio also alleges that the company would not return control of his social media accounts even after his contract expired. Combate Global is requesting that the case be thrown out because the suit failed to state a claim. We will have to wait and see what happens next in this case.
