Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Tony Nese has reportedly signed with AEW. It is not clear whether Nese has signed a “tier 0” contract or a “tier 1” contract. A tier 0 contract in AEW is where talent is paid per appearance, and tier 1 is a base contract for a performer.
Our own Cassidy Haynes has reported a few months ago that Nese was spotted backstage during AEW’s Home Coming show.
Nese made his first appearance on AEW Dynamite and was shown sitting in the crowd and taking in the card. The AEW commentary team also referred to Tony Nese as “one of the hottest free agents in pro-wrestling.” It was not confirmed whether Tony Nese signed with the company or not.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Tony Nese confirmed that he has signed a contract with AEW. He simply stated that his signing with AEW has been a blessing.
“This is awesome. It’s been a blessing.”
Nese has already fought in a match during AEW Dark’s latest tapings and is now hinting at a squaring-off with Adam Cole.
