EXCLUSIVE: Shane Taylor Will Become A Free Agent on January 1
Our correspondent, Jaychele Nicole, hosted an interview with Shane Taylor as a part of her ‘Shelly Speaks’ series. This interview comes ahead of his upcoming match against Kenny King at Ring of Honor’s Final Battle on December 11th.
Shane Taylor has been signed to a Ring of Honor contract since 2016. However, on Oct 27, Ring of Honor announced that they would be going on a hiatus for the first quarter of 2022. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful followed up to share that contracts ending at the end of 2021 wouldn’t be renewed. If contracts extend past that date, the talent would be paid until March 31.
In the interview, Shane was asked about his feelings going into the Final Battle event, and 2022 in general. Shane shared, “I’m excited. I’m confident. I know that there’s a lot of sadness around it. For me and my guys, we were going to have to start making some choices come the end of this year about what we wanted to do in the future, goals, and things like that. So all this does is really speed up the process.”
Shane also shared a message to his fans and opponents, “The support is only growing, and we’re excited for the future. As far as any opponents go, the time that you had to secure your spots, the time that you had to make your money, the time that you had to be the best in your prospective world, the time to do that, is running out very very quickly. Come January 1, that time is up. Me and my guys are coming to take everything that belongs to us. I don’t care if it’s AEW, I don’t if it’s Impact, I don’t if it’s MLW, I don’t if it’s New Japan, or anywhere in between. We are coming for everything. As WuTang so eloquently put it, protect your neck.”
It now appears that at least Shane Taylor will be a free agent as of January 1. The expiration dates for the rest of the members of Shane Taylor Promotions are unknown as of right now. The CEO of STP named multiple promotions. It was reported by Wrestling Headlines that he has already received interest from many companies. It is safe to say that it will be interesting to see where he, and the rest of STP, end up.
