Questions Continue On Why WWE Hasn’t Released Paige
Paige has not seen in any in-ring action since 2017, when she suffered a neck injury during a house match against Sasha Banks.
Since her injury, Paige has found a way to remain active with the WWE. Though the job only lasted a short time, we saw her acting as SmackDown GM in April of 2018. She has periodically made appearances on many other WWE shows and segments, including BackStage and the Bump.
The question of why she is still signed in the midst of all of the recent releases continues to be asked.
Dave Meltzer talked about why she’s still with the company on the latest Wrestling Observer Live.
“She’s still employed, and I don’t know when they call her with an idea, then that’s what she does. When they don’t call her she doesn’t do a lot. Yeah, you know I can’t really give an answer [about why she hasn’t been released] it’s probably, you know who knows? It’s probably maybe they feel there’s value in her in appearances and as far as things like that that her name’s strong enough to keep her employed and worth it for the company and also the injury and the career-ending nature of it there might be some feelings on that as well.”
During her time away from the ring Paige has continued to keep her name out there as she has keeps building her brand through the Twitch platform. Paige has 215,000 followers on the site.
She has recently teased a return to in-ring action though nothing has happened as of yet, so we will have to wait and see what happens in her career in the future.
