Update On Changes To The RK-Bro Tournament
During Monday’s RAW broadcast, WWE announced the finals of the RK-Bro tournament (featuring The Street Profits vs. Rey and Dominik Mysterio) would be delayed. WWE claimed the tournament was postponed due to injuries suffered by both teams. We were not made aware of any specific injuries or who exactly were the ones injured.
On a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was able to provide more insight into why the ‘RK-Bro-Nament’ finals were postponed.
Meltzer stated, “Something’s up with Ford. I don’t know what it is. They said that both teams were injured…For whatever it is, there’s something with Ford and I don’t know if there’s something with Rey or Dominik. For sure there’s something with Ford so they couldn’t do the match. I don’t know if it’s injury, illness, whatever. Legit, they couldn’t do that match.” (h/t to WrestlingNews.co for the transcription)
Meltzer added that WWE was aware of the situation on Saturday, and possibly prior to then, but still continued to advertise the tournament bout until a few hours before the show went live.
It was also reported that Rey and Dominik Mysterio were absent from the house shows that took place this weekend. Angelo Dawkins was also placed into a singles match with AJ Styles.
