AJ Styles’ WWE NXT 2.0 Appearance Expected to Counter NFL Competition
On the December 20 episode of Monday Night RAW, WWE announced that AJ Styles will appear on this week’s episode of WWE NXT 2.0.
Over the weekend, NXT 2.0 star Grayson Waller took a shot at Styles on social media by tweeting out a video stating he loved Styles as a kid but he feels The Phenomenal One is sticking around too long. He also dubbed himself ‘The Phenomenal’ Grayson Waller.
Styles acknowledged the video in a tweet reply saying, “Someone get this kid a clue…”
According to Dave Meltzer via Wrestling Observer Radio, the appearance is taking place to help combat the blow the show will take going against the NFL.
“So they’re going against the NFL on Tuesday for the first time in history. So, they should get destroyed. So, that’s probably the deal.”
Since Styles’ debut with WWE in 2016 at the Royal Rumble, he has appeared on NXT once for the build to Survivor Series in 2019. The O.C. (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Doc Gallows) took on Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, and Matt Riddle. Styles is a former 2x WWE Champion and has won the company’s grand slam.
