For a promotion with more than 3 years of existing, AEW has one eye on the future. AEW has a lot of young wrestlers ready for that next level.
2022 will be the year that some of the AEW pillars becomes a world champion, most likely MJF or Darby. They are the future of the promotion and are in a way destined to be career rivals.
2021 saw Jungle Boy take that next step as a singles wrestler, especially thanks to the match he had with Kenny Omega. 2022 will see Jungle Boy become tag team champions with Luchasaurus. A feud with Christian Cage seems to be also on the plans down the line.
AEW has also incorporated a lot of interesting young wrestlers to their roster, Lee Moriarty and Wheeler Yuta in particular are young prospects the promotion has big plans for them and are taking their time with them.
HOOK made his debut on 2021 and the internet exploded because of this. HOOK has delivered so far and fans have high hopes for the career of the ‘handsome devil’ of Team Taz.
2021 was a great year for Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. and winning the AEW women’s championship. The greatest dentist of all time has delivered on her as champion and had a MOTY contender with Thunder Rosa, and 2022 will seem cross paths again.
2022 will be a big year for all the young talent in AEW.
