Davey Richards, MLW Agree to New Multi-Year Deal
Davey Richards returned to pro wrestling in 2021 after a four-year absence and the former ROH World Champion immediately picked up where he left off as one of the hottest wrestlers on the independents. One of the places that allowed Richards to re-introduce himself is Major League Wrestling, where he made an instant impact, winning the Opera Cup by defeating Bobby Fish, Tom Lawlor and TJPW. MLW announced on Wednesday that the American Wolf has signed a new multi-year extension with the promotion.
“Davey is one of the top pure wrestlers in the sport and I’m pumped that he’s decided to plant his flag here at MLW for several years with this new deal,” said MLW owner Court Bauer in a press release. “(Davey) has upped the standards of the in-ring product and his leadership and pride as a member of the MLW locker room is invaluable. Davey is Mr. MLW and we’re damn proud he’s made MLW his home.”
Richards is one of the most decorated performers of his era, winning world championships in PWG, ROH and CZW. Richards, alongside Eddie Edwards, is a five-time Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion and multi-time Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion. Richards also won tag gold in Ring of Honor and New Japan with Rocky Romero. Richards next appearance for MLW is set for January 21st when he takes on ACH at the MLW Blood and Thunder extravaganza.
