AEW New Year’s Smash Sees Slight Viewership Drop

AEW presented another stacked holiday show for the last Dynamite of 2021. It was also the last Dynamite on TNT, as AEW’s flagship program is set to move to TBS.

Wrestlenomics reports that the AEW New Year’s Smash event on December 29th pulled in an overnight average of 975,000 viewers with a .37 in the 18 to 49 demographic. AEW Holiday Bash Night 1 on December 22nd brought in an overnight average of 1,020,000 viewers with a .37 in the 18 to 49 demographic, while the December 8th episode of AEW Dynamite brought an overnight average of 872,000 viewers with a .33 in the 18 to 49 demographic.

As AEW’s viewership fluctuates from week-to-week, this week saw a slight drop in viewership totals but are overall up from the usual number. For reference, Dynamite brought an overnight average of 861,000 viewers for their December 1st episode, capturing a .31 in the 18 to 49 demographic. The program in the final November episode had garnered 898,000 with around 344,000 in the target demographic.
